In August 2002, Quinn Interactive, Inc. announced the launch of a Web site for photographer and entrepreneur, Nancy Manning. The new site, www.nancymanning.com, highlights both the quality and breadth of Ms. Manning’s work.
Though technically straightforward, the site presented aesthetic challenges during development. The difficulty was to design a handsome interface that would enhance the photography. By collaborating with the artist on important details like image management and information architecture, the firm produced a sophisticated, understated Web design.
"We wanted to create the right environment for the artwork," said Phil Quinn, President of Quinn Interactive. "The key to success was designing a frame for the photos that still engaged the viewer and encouraged them to spend more time on the site," he concluded.
Best known for her skill as a portrait photographer, Ms. Manning also teaches camera skills to aspiring photographers. Most recently, she organized and led cultural adventures to Paris, France. During these seminars abroad, called Paris Beckons, Ms. Manning guided a select group of serious photography students through hands-on demonstrations and discussions about travel and architectural photography.
"Initially, I was skeptical about publishing my work online," said Ms. Manning. "Even the best photographs can look dismal in a poor Web design. Despite my trepidation, I felt a Web site was the best way for me to reach the right audience," she continued. "Quinn Interactive really understood and addressed my concerns. Phil and his colleagues developed an online presence that showcases my work."
